How to replace a blown car fuse?

Fuse replacement peculiarities

  • When installing a new fuse, only use one of a similar type and amperage. To be clear, if its rated current is higher than you need, it will not work in emergency situations. However, it is also not advisable to underestimate the rated current. In this case, a fuse may blow and disconnect a circuit when you apply a load, even if there is no emergency.
  • When replacing a fuse, you must not only check the label on the fuse body and the marking on the fuse socket, but also the current rating.
If a fuse blows again soon after being replaced, do not increase the amperage. Instead, contact a specialist to find out what the problem is.
  • Always disconnect the battery before servicing high-current fuses.
  • Caution! Never use a wire in place of a fuse. If you do not have a suitable fuse, you can temporarily use a good fuse of the same rating from the secondary circuit.
